Mount Tara is one of the most famous mountains in Serbia and part of the Dinarides mountain range. It is located in the west of the country, near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tara is recognizable for its untouched nature, rich forests, spacious meadows, deep gorges and crystal clear rivers.

Mount Tara is part of the Tara National Park, which was founded in 1981 and covers an area of 19 175 hectares. Tara National Park is a protected area of nature that includes a variety of ecosystems, such as dense forests of black pine, fir, beech and oak, but also spacious meadows and pastures.

On the mountain there is also one of the deepest canyons in Europe, the Drina River Canyon, which offers spectacular views and opportunities to explore. There is also the famous viewpoint of the Banjska stena, which offers a panoramic view of the canyon and the surrounding mountains.

Mount Tara is a popular destination for nature lovers and adventurers. Visitors can enjoy various activities, such as hiking, cycling, canoeing or kayaking on the Drina River, fishing, nature walks and wildlife watching. There are also several mountain peaks on the mountain, such as Zborište, Kozji rid and Trestenik, which provide a challenge for hikers.

Mount Tara is also known for its cultural heritage. On it is located the ethno village of Drvengrad, which is a project of the director Emir Kusturica. This village revives the traditional architecture and way of life in the region and attracts many visitors.
