Triglav Lakes 22.-23.08.2026.
The Triglav Lakes Valley is an alpine valley, located between Bohinj and Trento. The valley is about 8 km long. Some call it the Valley of the Seven Lakes. Numerous discussions have been held about the number of lakes in the valley, but most often there are seven lakes, because the other water surfaces are, in fact, only lukewarm that dry up, so they are not counted as lakes. The valley of the Triglav Lakes, during the first boom of mountaineering in Slovenia, was considered one of the most beautiful areas in the Julian Alps. There is also Koča near Triglav Lakes, one of the oldest mountain houses in Slovenia, originally built in 1880. Near the house there is a memorial plaque Alojzije Knafelac, the creator of red and white markings, which is still used today, both in Slovenia and in Croatia.

itinerary
FIRST DAY
We depart from Zagreb at 6:00 a.m. Just after 9 a.m. (with one stop) we come to the parking lot on Mount Blato. The number of vehicles in the parking lot is limited and should arrive early enough to pass through the ramp (first we will try to pass through the ramp, so if there is no space we go to the shuttle bus). We take things and head towards our first station - Koča on the Mountain near the lake (1453 m) which we reach in about an hour. We'll take a coffee break there, a beer, or whatever someone wants. It would be a pity to just pass by such a beautiful landscape. If someone has not managed to get the city's bustle and stress out of their minds so far, I am convinced that with this beautiful view, they will succeed. After resting and "charging batteries", we continue to the valley of the Triglav Lakes. After about 40 minutes we will come across Bregarjevo zavetišče (a kind of catering facility with the possibility of overnight stays), where we will make another short break. Our next stop is Koča near Triglav Lakes and the first lake in the valley of Triglav Lakes - Double Lake. We have a long lunch break here. After lunch and rest, we head further through the valley of the Triglav Lakes, passing by the most striking Great Lake, where we take another short break. Another hour and we come to our inn - Zasavske brakes on Prehodavcih. The house is located on a sightseeing hill on the Prehodavci Pass (2071 m), from where there are views in all directions. We will be surrounded by mountain peaks, some of which exceed a height of 2500 m. We are settling in the house and slowly getting ready to sleep, someone before, someone after.
The Second Day
Getting up and having breakfast. At 8:30 we head back towards Koča on the mountain by the lake, but this time by another way, through another valley. The first hour we are still in the stone world, and after that the gray color of the stone slowly takes over the green color of the grass, and later the forest. With at least two vacations we reach Koča on the mountain near the lake where we take a longer lunch break. We only need a 45-minute walk to the parking lot. Return to Zagreb is expected in the early evening.
NOTE: Nights and mornings at these heights can be very cold, just a few degrees above zero, even in the middle of summer, so you should also bring some winter clothes, just in case.
