Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is a charming town in southeastern France, located at the foot of Mont Blanc (4810m), the highest Alpine peak, on the triangle of France, Switzerland and Italy. Chamonix was discovered as a tourist destination by British explorers William Windham and Richard Pococke back in 1741, and in 1924 the first Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix. Today, Chamonix is a tourist mecca, both for skiers and for hikers and climbers. In addition to the highest Alpine peak, there is also the highest cable car in France (Aiguille du Midi, 3842m), the largest glacier in France (Mer de Glace), the highest high-rise railway in France (Tramway du Mont Blanc, 2372m), as well as many other attractions.

Chamonix - Mont - Blanc 04.-11.07.2026.

itinerary

FIRST DAY

We depart from Zagreb at 6 am, and with a few stops in the late afternoon we arrive in Argentiere, a small town near Chamonix. We're settling in apartments, and on as anyone pleases. Dinner or a little walk and go to sleep.

The Second Day

Getting up and having breakfast. Today we will head to Lac Blanc (White Lake). We'll take the Flegere cable car from Chamonix to Refuge de la Flegere first. From there, the trail starts towards Lac Blanc. Next to the lake is the Refuge du Lac Blanc. We'll take a longer break here. Back on the second track, back to the cable car we're going down to Chamonix. After returning to the apartment and a little rest we go to dinner in one of the restaurants in Argentiere or in Chamonix, and further as anyone wants.

The Third Day

Getting up and having breakfast. Today we go to the cable car that takes us to Mount Prarion, and from there we have to go down a bit to the high-rise railway station (Tramway du Mont Blanc) that drives us to the Nid d’Aigle (2372m), the highest railway station in France. This station is the starting point for one of the trails to Mont Blanc. But we are not going to Mont Blanc, but only to Refuge Nid d’Aigle and the nearby gazebo. After that, we (on foot) return to the valley, to the village of Les Houches, from where we started with a cable car. In case of need, we can get down with another cable car that's halfway down. We return to the apartment, and after the shower and rest we go to dinner, and further as anyone wants.

FOURTH DAY

Getting up and having breakfast. Today, the most popular cable car in Chamonix awaits us, the one that leads to the top of the Aiguille du Midi (3842m). There is also a mountaineering museum, a restaurant, and of course, viewpoints on all sides, among others the one on the nearby Mont Blanc. After a tour of all this, we take the cable car down to the intermediate station and continue down towards the Refuge du Plan de l’Aiguille (2207m). From there we take the Grand balcon nord trail towards the Mer de Glace glacier. The glacier itself can be reached on foot, but also by cable car. After a tour of the glacier and the contents around the cable car, we descend to Chamonix by another high-rise railway. After returning to the apartment, showering and resting, we go to dinner, and further as anyone wants.

The Fifth Day

Getting up and having breakfast. Today we go again with the cable car Flegere, but this time on the other side, the trail Grand balcon court. After about two hours of walking we will reach the upper station of the Planpraz cable car. From there, the Brevent cable car takes us above 2400m, just below the top of Brevent (2525m). To the top and one of the better gazebos above Chamonix takes a 10-minute walk. From the top, we descend on the Brevent cable car and continue with the Planpraz cable car to Chamonix. After returning to the apartment, showering and resting, we go to dinner, and further as anyone wants.

The Sixth Day

Getting up and having breakfast. Today the road takes us to the top of the Aigullette des Posettes (2201m). We go to Vallorcine and take the cable car to 1900m. From there, across the Col des Posettes (1997m) pass, we reach the top and descend to the other side towards the parking lot in Tre le Champ. We return to the apartment, and after showering and resting we go to dinner, and further as anyone wants.

The Seventh Day

Getting up and having breakfast. We take things and at 9:00 we head towards Lago di Garda, which, with one stop, we arrive in the early afternoon. We register for the accommodation, and further as anyone pleases. Free time for rest, walking, going to the beach...

OTHER DAY

Getting up and having breakfast. We take things and check out of the accommodation. In case of good weather, we can still stay on the lake. On the way back we can stop by the nearby Verona, visit the famous building and balcony (Romeo and Juliet) etc. Around 14-15 hours we head to Zagreb, where, with two stops, we arrive in the evening.
