Dinara - Sinj 05.-06.09.2026.
Dinara (1831 m) is the highest Croatian mountain. Although it is not the highest mountain of the Dinaric Mountains, Dinara has become a symbol of the largest mountain range on the Balkan Peninsula and gave it its name. Once you visit the highest peak of Croatia, for most mountaineers Croats is a special emotional experience. The peak is marked with a geodetic column which now reads ‘1831 peaks of Croatia’. There is still ‘SINJAL 1831’ next to the column on the large stone, as this was the name of this peak until recently. It is assumed that Dinara was named after the Illyrian tribe Dindara, which lived on the eastern side of the mountain. The peak of Sinjal is named after the geodetic mark at the top (signal). From the top there is a view in all directions, northeast on Troglav and Horse, southeast on Perućko Lake, south on Kiev Kozjak and Svilaj, and west on Promina.

itinerary
FIRST DAY
We depart from Zagreb at 7:00 a.m., and with one stop around 10 a.m. we reach Knin near which there is the source of the river Krka, i.e. the Krčić waterfall. In summer, the waterfall often dries up, but hopefully it will still be something of a waterfall. From the source of Krka we continue towards the source of Cetina, which we need an hour's drive to. Here we stay for about an hour and head towards the hamlet Mirkovići from where our trail towards the mountain lodge Brezovac starts. It takes 2.5-3 hours to walk home. The house is supplied only with drinks, there is no food. You also need to have a sleeping bag.
The Second Day
Getting up and having breakfast. At 8 o'clock, we head towards the top, which takes about 3 hours to walk. We stay at the top for at least an hour (may be longer if weather permits). Back to Mirkoviće we come down another way, the so-called Yogurt trail. It takes 2.5 - 3 hours to walk downstairs. On our way to Zagreb, we will stop for a late lunch sometime. Return to Zagreb is scheduled in the evening.
